ReverseMortgage.org provides two options: Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) - the oldest and most popular reverse mortgage product.  And the CHIP Reverse Mortgage for Seniors which is a unique home equity borrowing opportunity for homeowners in Canada who are age 62 and older. We want many more options.

The site is fairly easy to navigate through. There are 5 category tabs in the signature navy blue and white color scheme. Graphics and text are professionally laid out in a professional, albeit simplistic, template. Nothing special but it will suffice.

The ReverseMortgage Calculator provides estimates of online mortgage rates, payments and loan amounts. It is used for illustrative purposes only. It’s easy to find and works well. ZIP codes and other personal details can be entered to calculate payment amounts. The tool functions effectively.

How detailed are the mortgage descriptions? Is the information on mortgages easy to follow or written in complex jargon? Are the various mortgage options easy to compare and are breakdowns provided? We graded on content..
ReverseMortgage and Healthcare links for consumers took us to a 20 page PDF file which simply bombarded us with information in a presentation about mortgage banks. The homeowner’s link took us to 24 pages of jargon and sales pitch. This is not acceptable and we reject it outright.

Why is it different to other online banks? We graded on originality and innovation..
The website makes use of PDF files and presentations, how-to guides and easy-to-use mortgage calculators. But every reputable mortgage company employs these same or better methods and techniques. There is no originality being used here at all.

We didn’t find specific telephone/fax or email support services. However there is an option to locate a lender by inputting a ZIP code. This is certainly not an ideal or effective way to go about things.
